Although everyone is aware of ZTA's symbol, the crown, there is another sweet symbol, the strawberry, that is sometimes overlooked.
The ZTA Strawberry Story

Before ZTA's official founding, Cammie Jones received a gift that would take its place in ZTA history. One of Cammie’s admirers sent her strawberries, and they provided the inspiration for the first social gathering of our Founders. They called it a “strawberry feast.” Cammie wrote: “I don’t know what there was in the occasion or the delicious berries to bolster up our courage, but then and there we decided, without a dissenting vote, to become an organization. Many were the plans we discussed, but all the while our name hung wildly in the balance.” But even after deciding they wanted to be recognized as one of the official groups, our Founders were still determined to select their name with meticulous care and appropriate meaning. The meaning behind the strawberry teaches us the importance of giving and how small acts can ignite large movements. In only two short years, ZTA has raised over 6 million dollars nationwide, and they have passed out 1.5 pink ribbons for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. This sweet symbol reminds us how sweet is it is to be a Zeta Tau Alpha.
